Delete your account and data
You can delete your TALISK_HQ account and everything in it yourself, at any time, from Settings › Account › Delete my account and data.
To remove just one business and keep your account, see Delete a business instead.
Before you delete
Businesses must generally keep their records for about six years. The delete section offers the downloads first, and they cover every year of the book you have open, not just this one: a ledger export and an archive of all your documents from your first record to today, and an accountant handover pack for each year that has records. Switch books to download each book. Downloading is optional.
Delete the account
- Go to Settings › Account and scroll to Delete my account and data.
- Press Delete my account….
- Enter your password, and your two-step code if two-step verification is on.
- Type DELETE in the confirmation box, then press Delete my account.
You are signed out straight away and we email you the date the account will be erased.
What happens next
The account is locked as soon as you confirm. If you sign in during the next 7 days you see one screen: the date, Keep my account, the downloads for each book and Sign out. Nothing runs for the account while it is locked: no mail is synced, no invoice or reminder is sent, and nobody you shared your books with can open them.
On the seventh day we erase your books, mail, contacts and documents, disconnect your mailboxes, bank feeds and stores, and end your subscription. A store app you installed in Shopify or Square stays installed in that store until you remove it in the store's own admin; we delete our access keys. If you paid for a renewal during the locked week, it is refunded, and a first subscription still inside its 14-day refund window on the day you asked is refunded in full. Your saved cards are removed. We email you once it is done.
Keep your account
Sign in before the date and press Keep my account. Everything is exactly as you left it, and your subscription carries on as before.
If you keep books for clients, or someone keeps yours
On the Partner plan, your clients keep their own books and their own sign-in. When your account is erased they are released and told by email. If a bookkeeper keeps your books, their access ends when your account is erased. Any referral commission not yet paid to you is forfeited.
What we keep
We keep our own record of what you paid, held by our payment processor, counts of the AI usage your account incurred with no content, and, where you worked in someone else's books, that owner's audit trail of the changes without your IP address. Encrypted database backups that still contain your data expire within 90 days, and monthly full-server snapshots within 12 months. The off-site copy of your documents is removed 12 months after the account is erased, once the last backup that could hold it has expired.
