Forgot your password
If you cannot remember your password, you can set a new one yourself. Nobody at TALISK_HQ needs to be involved, and nobody at TALISK_HQ can look your old password up: we only ever store a scrambled version of it.
Set a new password
- On the sign-in screen, click Forgot your password? under the Sign in button.
- Type the email address you sign in with and click Send reset link.
- TALISK_HQ says Check your email. The message is titled Reset your TALISK_HQ password and comes from
noreply@talisk.ai. - Open it and click Reset password.
- Fill in New password and Confirm password, then click Set password. It has to be at least eight characters.
- You land back on the sign-in screen. Sign in with the new password.
The whole thing takes about a minute, so do it in one sitting rather than coming back to the email later.
The link is good for 30 minutes, once
Two things end a reset link's life, and both are deliberate.
Time. A link expires 30 minutes after you asked for it. That is short on purpose: the link is enough on its own to take over the account, so it should not sit in a mailbox for a week. If yours has expired, the page says the link is invalid or expired. Ask for another one; there is no limit on how many times you can start over, beyond a few an hour from the same place.
Use. Setting a password kills every reset link outstanding on the account, including the one you just used. So if you asked twice and clicked the older email, that is fine, but you cannot click either one again afterwards.
The email has not arrived
Give it a minute or two, then work through these in order.
- Check the spam or junk folder. It is the usual answer.
- Check you typed the right address. TALISK_HQ deliberately says "check your email" whether or not it recognises the address you typed, so that nobody can use the form to find out who has an account here. That means a typo looks exactly like success. Try again with the address you are certain about.
- Check it is the address on your account, not one you also own. The link only ever goes to the address you sign in with.
- Wait a few minutes if you have tried several times. Five requests an hour from one connection is the cap, and past that the form stops accepting requests for a while. That is there to stop somebody using the form to send mail to a stranger, and it applies to a genuine request as well.
If none of that works, email support@talisk.ai from any address and say which account you are locked out of.
You did not ask for this email
Somebody typed your address into the forgot-password form. That is all it takes, and it does not mean anyone knows your password or has got into your account.
Ignore the message and nothing happens: the link expires on its own in 30 minutes and your current password keeps working. Do not click it and then abandon the page.
If it keeps happening, or you also got a New login detected email you cannot explain, reply to the message so we can look into it.
While you are signed in
You do not need a reset link to change a password you still know. Go to Settings › My Account, section Change Password, and enter your current password along with the new one. Changing it that way signs you out everywhere else, which is what you want if you are changing it because you are worried.
An administrator started a reset for you
If somebody at TALISK_HQ did this at your request, you get a message headed Set a new password that says so. It behaves exactly like the link above: 30 minutes, one use.
An unexplained reset link is indistinguishable from a phishing attempt, so if you did not ask for it, do not use it, and reply to the email rather than acting on it.
Your first password, on an account somebody set up for you
This is the one link with a longer life. If an administrator created your account, the welcome message is headed Your TALISK_HQ account is ready and its Choose your password link lasts 7 days, not 30 minutes. Nobody warned you it was coming, so it waits for you.
It still works only once. If it has run out, reply to that email and ask for another, because the forgot-password form needs an account you can already sign in to a mailbox for, and the address on a brand new account may not be one you check often.
If two-step verification is on
A new password does not replace your six-digit code. After signing in you are still asked for it, exactly as before, and the reset changes nothing about your authenticator app. If you have lost access to that as well, see Two-factor authentication and your recovery codes.
