Keep a job's emails together
Six weeks into a job, the answer to "did they ask for the grey tile or the white?" is in your inbox somewhere. Pinning the message to the job puts it where you will look for it.
Pin a message. Open the email in Mail and click Add to job on the toolbar. Pick the job from the list, or type a few letters of the job title or the customer name to narrow it down. That is the whole action: the email stays exactly where it is, still in your inbox, still unread or read as it was. Adding it to a job files a reference, not a copy.
The button tells you what is already pinned. If the message is on a job already it reads On 1 job instead of Add to job, and opening it shows which, so you do not pin the same message twice trying to find out. Pinning it again is harmless anyway: TALISK_HQ tells you it is already on that job rather than adding a second link.
One message, more than one job. "While you're here, can you look at the tap upstairs" is one email about two jobs. Pin it to both.
See them on the job. Open the job from Invoicing › Jobs and scroll to the Emails section. Every pinned message is there, newest first, with the sender, the date and the subject. Click the subject to open it back in Mail. When the message lives in a different email account from the one you are reading, TALISK_HQ asks before switching you across, so you do not lose your place.
Unpin one. Click Remove beside it on the job page. That removes the link and nothing else: the email is untouched.
A message you can no longer read. If the email has been deleted from the mailbox since you pinned it, or you are a bookkeeper without access to that mailbox, the row still shows and says the message is no longer available. It stays visible so you can see that something was pinned, and so you can tidy the link away.
One more thing this quietly does. When a supplier bill arrives in the same email conversation as a message you have already pinned, TALISK_HQ suggests that job when you come to tag the bill. So filing the customer's email early saves you picking the job by hand later.
