The Outbox, for scheduled and failed emails

Open this in Talisk HQ

Outbox appears in the Mail section of the sidebar whenever something is waiting to send, still sending, or failed. When there is nothing, the entry is hidden. A red count means at least one email failed.

On the phone, Outbox is a folder button beside Inbox above your mail, shown on the same terms and red when something failed. It has the same three lists and the same buttons; Edit and Undo open the email in the phone's composer.

Sending

A reply stays here for the few seconds of its Undo window (Settings › Email › Undo Delay). Once your provider is taking it, it shows Sending… and can no longer be stopped. Click Undo to stop it; the text goes back into the reply box so you can change it.

Scheduled

Emails you scheduled for later, with the time each will go.

  • Edit saves it as a draft, takes it off the schedule and opens the draft in the compose window. Change it, then send it or schedule it again. A forward cannot be edited here, because a draft cannot carry the forwarded attachments: cancel it and forward the email again.
  • Cancel stops it for good. TALISK_HQ asks first: Cancel email stops it, Keep it scheduled leaves it alone.

Failed

Emails your mail provider did not accept, with the reason it gave.

  • Retry sends it again, with the usual Undo window. Unless TALISK_HQ knows the email never reached your provider, it asks first, because it may already have been delivered: check Sent before you send it again.
  • Edit opens it in the compose window so you can fix it first, for example a mistyped address.
  • Dismiss takes it off the list. A failed reply's text stays in its draft in the conversation and in Drafts.

A scheduled email that was cut off while it was being sent shows as failed with a note to check your Sent folder. TALISK_HQ never sends it again on its own.

Good to know: The Outbox lists emails that have not left yet or did not leave: replies in their Undo window, emails scheduled for later, and sends that failed in the last 14 days. It does not list emails that were sent; those are in Sent. A failed email that had attachments cannot be retried as it is, because the files were not kept after the failed attempt: open it with Edit and attach them again.
