Reply from a saved template

Open this in Talisk HQ

If you answer the same question often, save the answer once and reuse it.

Using one

Open a reply in the thread and press Template in the draft toolbar at the top of the card, then pick the one you want. The text drops into the reply.

If you had already typed something, the template goes in above it and your words stay put. Nothing you have written is replaced.

Templates are also available on the full compose window and on your phone.

Writing one

Go to Settings, then Templates. Give it a name you will recognise in the menu, and write the message.

A quick way to make one: write the reply you want in the compose window first, then use Save as template in its Template menu.

Using the customer's first name

Put {{first_name}} anywhere in a template and TALISK_HQ fills in the name of the person you are writing to:

Hi {{first_name}}, your order is ready for pickup.

When TALISK_HQ does not know their name, that becomes there so the greeting still reads properly: "Hi there, your order is ready for pickup." It never leaves a blank or the raw text in your message.

TALISK_HQ only knows a name when the email carries one. A notification that gives an address and nothing else, such as some order alerts, falls back.

What a template does not do

  • It does not send. The reply sits in the editor until you press Send.
  • It does not change the subject of a reply, which follows the conversation.
  • It does not touch your signature, which stays below as normal.
Good to know: A template fills the reply for you; it never sends. Applying one adds its text above whatever is already in the reply, so nothing you have typed is lost. Templates are written and edited in Settings under Templates; the reply toolbar only picks one.
