Fix spelling while you type
TALISK_HQ fixes common misspellings as you type an email. Finish a word with a space or a full stop and a typo like "teh" becomes "the", "recieve" becomes "receive". It works in the subject line and the message, on the web, in the desktop app and on your phone.
Corrections only ever apply to strings that are not words. Your customers' names, vendor names, product codes and abbreviations are left alone, because they are not on the list of misspellings.
When it gets one wrong
Press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac) straight after a correction. Your original word comes back, and TALISK_HQ stops correcting that word for the rest of the session.
To stop it permanently, go to Settings › Email › Spelling and add the word under Never correct these words. Click a word in that list to remove it again.
What it leaves alone
- Web addresses, email addresses and file names
- Anything containing a number
- Words in CAPITALS, so acronyms survive
- Quoted text in a reply, because those are someone else's words
Turning it off
Settings › Email › Spelling has a switch for Correct misspellings while I type. Turning it off stops the automatic corrections. Your browser's own red underlines are separate and stay on either way.
Fixing a whole draft
Autocorrect handles single words as you write them. For grammar and phrasing across a finished draft, use the Clean up button in the compose toolbar, which shows you each change before you accept it.
