Switch between cash and accrual reporting

Open this in Talisk HQ

Talisk keeps a full accrual ledger and lets you present it either way:

  • Accrual counts income and expenses when you invoice or get billed.
  • Cash counts them when the money actually moves.

For a single report: open Ledger › Reports and use the Accrual / Cash toggle at the top of the P&L: it also drives the Expenses and Tax Summary reports. This override lasts for your session.

To set your book's default: open the book in Ledger › Setup, and in the book editor set Reporting Basis to Cash (count income/expense when paid or Accrual) count when invoiced/billed. Most small businesses file cash-basis. Reports then open on that basis, and your quarterly GST/HST worksheet is timed to match.

Good to know: The basis is a presentation choice only: your books always post on accrual underneath, so switching never changes a journal entry. The Balance Sheet and Trial Balance are always accrual and ignore the toggle, and a cash-basis figure is exact only for the portion you've reconciled to the bank.
