Confirm your email address

Open this in Talisk HQ

When you create an account, TALISK_HQ emails a link to the address you signed up with. Clicking it in the browser you signed up in confirms the address and takes you into the app, already signed in.

Open the same link somewhere else, on your phone when you signed up on a laptop, say, and it still confirms the address, then asks you to sign in. That is deliberate: a link sitting in an inbox must never be enough to put somebody inside an account.

The same thing happens on an account with two-factor authentication switched on, and on one that is locked after too many wrong passwords or whose access has run out. The address is confirmed either way, so you never need a second link. What the link will not do is walk past a second factor or a lock.

TALISK_HQ asks for this because everything the product does runs through your mailbox: bills arrive there, invoices go out from there, and the year-end pack is sent there. An address nobody has confirmed is an address that may have a typo in it.

The link did not arrive

The screen that says Check your email has a Resend verification email button. Enter the address you signed up with and press it, and a fresh link is sent. Use whichever link you like: either one confirms the address, and once it is confirmed the rest do nothing.

If it still has not arrived:

  1. Look in spam or junk. The message comes from TALISK_HQ and its subject is Verify your TALISK_HQ email.
  2. Check the address for a typo. If you signed up with the wrong address, create the account again with the right one.
  3. Wait a few minutes before resending again. TALISK_HQ limits how often it will send to one address, which is what stops the link being used as a way to flood somebody's inbox.

The link says it has expired

A link lasts 24 hours, so one from last week will say so. That screen carries the same resend form: enter your address and a new link is sent. A link you have already used says Already confirmed instead, and offers you the sign-in page.

You signed in but the app will not open

If you sign in before confirming, TALISK_HQ shows you the Check your email screen instead of your books. That is deliberate, not a fault: the rest of the product stays closed until the address is confirmed. Click the link in your inbox, or resend it from that screen, and the app opens as normal.

Signed up with the wrong address

Create the account again with the right one. There is nothing to undo: an address nobody confirmed opens nothing.

Good to know: A verification link lasts 24 hours. Clicking it confirms the address and signs you in, but only in the browser you signed up in: opened anywhere else, on an account with two-factor authentication, or on an account that is locked or whose access has run out, it confirms the address and asks you to sign in. Until the address is confirmed, Talisk will not open your books, your mail or the setup wizard, so confirming is the first step and not an optional one.
