Start without connecting a mailbox

Open this in Talisk HQ

You do not have to connect a mailbox to use TALISK_HQ HQ.

On the Connect your email step of setup, choose I'll connect email later. Setup finishes and you land in your books.

This suits a business that reads its email somewhere else and wants TALISK_HQ for the invoicing and the bookkeeping: a trade running jobs, quotes and receipts, for example.

What still works

Everything except automatic capture from your inbox:

  • Quotes and invoices, emailed to your customer with a pay link
  • Jobs, with materials, hours per worker and mileage costed to them
  • Receipts photographed on your phone, which become bills in your books
  • Bank and card feeds, reconciliation, and the GST or HST worksheet
  • Every report and the year end pack for your accountant

What you give up until you connect one

TALISK_HQ reads supplier bills and receipts out of your inbox and files them for you. Without a mailbox you capture those yourself, by photographing a receipt or uploading the document.

Connecting one later

Go to Settings, open the Email tab, and add an account there. Nothing you have already entered changes, and capture starts from the mail that arrives afterwards. See "Connect a Gmail, Outlook or IMAP mailbox".

Changing your mind during setup

If you are still on the setup screens, go back to Connect your email and connect an account as normal. TALISK_HQ drops the skip as soon as a mailbox exists.

Good to know: Skipping is a choice you record during setup, and you can undo it. It does not disable anything: invoicing, jobs, receipts, banking and the books all work without a mailbox. What you give up is automatic capture, because bills and receipts that arrive by email are what Talisk reads for you. You still need a business name before you can skip, because an invoice cannot be raised without one.
