can I import my books from QuickBooks

Yes. You bring your closing numbers across rather than re-entering years of history.

The path is a trial balance import: you export a trial balance as at your changeover date from QuickBooks (Xero and most other packages export the same report), upload it, and Talisk uses it to set your opening balances, so your bank, receivables, payables and equity all start from where your old books left off.

Two practical notes:

  • Pick a clean changeover date: the start of a financial period is easiest to reconcile and easiest for your accountant to review
  • History stays where it is. Your old system keeps the detail for prior years; Talisk carries the balances forward. That's the normal way to move accounting systems, and it's what your accountant will expect

Once the opening balances are in, everything from that date forward is captured in Talisk.
