Reply to the customer from a Shopify order email
Every time someone buys from your store, Shopify emails you a notification with a subject like [Your Store] Order #1751 placed by Jeremy Stepper.
Those emails are sent from your own store address to your own store address, and the buyer's email is nowhere in them. So hitting Reply used to reach nobody, and Reply All sent you a copy of your own order.
Reply now writes to the customer. TALISK_HQ recognises the notification, looks up that order in your connected store, and uses the buyer's address as the reply target. You will see their address on the message header, under the To line, labelled Customer, with a copy button beside it.
Everything else about replying is unchanged. TALISK_HQ fills in the recipient and waits for you.
What is different on these emails
Three controls are hidden, because on this one kind of message each of them was either useless or harmful:
- Unsubscribe is gone. It would have unsubscribed you from your own store's order notifications.
- Auto Draft is gone. There is nothing to draft a reply to in an automated notification.
- The bill and receipt prompt is gone. An order is money coming in, so TALISK_HQ already knows it is not a bill and stops asking.
Filter still works, and files by store. Because these emails come from your own store address, filtering by sender would hide everything that mailbox sends. So TALISK_HQ files the notifications from that store instead and leaves the rest alone. See Filter a sender out of your inbox.
The View order button inside the email still works. It is Shopify's own link and takes you to the order in your Shopify admin.
If the customer line is missing
TALISK_HQ shows the customer only when it can find the buyer's address, so a missing line means one of these:
- The order has not synced from Shopify yet. New orders usually arrive within the hour. Open the email again after that.
- The order was a guest checkout and the customer left no email address.
- The store is not connected in TALISK_HQ. Connect it under Ledger, then Setup.
In each case the email is still readable and everything else works as normal. TALISK_HQ leaves the line out rather than showing an address it is unsure about.
