Start a job from the site

Open this in Talisk HQ

You can start a job standing on the site. Open Work, then New job, or tap ⦿ Do and choose New job.

Give it a name, pick the client, and add the site address. If the client is new, choose + New client in the same list and type their name: TALISK_HQ adds them and puts them on the job. There is a line for an hourly rate if you know it, and it is fine to leave it for later.

TALISK_HQ names the set of books it is filing the job under, just above the button. If it cannot work out which, it will tell you and hold the job back rather than save one that would not appear in any of your books.

Adding a client on its own works the same way: Work, then Clients, then New client.

Timing your hours

On Log hours there is Start a timer. Tap it when you begin, and TALISK_HQ counts. You can lock the phone, take a call, or close the app: the time keeps counting, because TALISK_HQ remembers when you started rather than counting ticks.

Tap Stop and the hours go into the box. They are not saved yet. Check them, add the job and a note, and tap Save when you are ready.

If a timer has been running a long time, TALISK_HQ will not guess for you. It shows what the timer actually says and asks whether to use that or type the real figure. Your hours end up on an invoice, so TALISK_HQ would rather ask than put a number in that nobody chose.

The timer lives on the phone you started it on, and it is one at a time.

Good to know: On a phone you can start a job, add a client, and time your hours. Photos and notes on a job are not on the phone yet. A job needs to know which set of books it belongs to: if Talisk cannot tell, it will say so rather than save one that would not show up anywhere. The timer fills in your hours for you; it never saves them by itself.
